GMKtec EVO-X2, 64 GB
The 64 GB EVO-X2 is another high-memory choice for local AI and integrated graphics. It has 2.5GbE, so choose it for memory and compute rather than as a replacement for the EVO-T2’s 10GbE port.

Who needs 64 GB installed
Sixty-four gigabytes makes sense when several virtual machines, containers, large development tools or local models run together. It is far beyond what a browser and office applications usually need. Write down the peak memory of each guest or application, add room for the host operating system and leave spare capacity for updates. A memory figure in a product title is useful only when it describes the actual configuration for sale; a supported maximum or an SSD capacity does not make the delivered machine a 64 GB PC.
Choose a complete configuration
The exact offer must include 64 GB of fitted RAM and usable storage. Some models have a barebone option that ships without either component. Others list 16 GB and 32 GB siblings on the same Amazon page. Re-select 64 GB in the retailer variation menu, confirm the SSD and operating system, and compare the delivered total rather than a family-wide starting price. If you plan an upgrade yourself, add the cost of compatible modules, warranty implications and the time to install and test them.
Match CPU and cooling to memory
Extra memory does not make a weak processor handle heavy compilation, several busy VMs or graphics work. A GMKtec EVO-T2 may suit local AI and network-heavy use, while the MINISFORUM MS-A2 has more server-oriented I/O. Test requirements against the exact CPU, memory bandwidth, sustained cooling and software stack. For a quiet desk, fan behaviour matters; for an always-on server, power measured at the wall matters. Do not use the processor TDP as the electricity bill estimate.
Plan SSD and expansion
A 64 GB workstation often produces large virtual disks, model files, container images or project caches. Check the SSD that is fitted, the number of available M.2 slots and whether a second drive shares bandwidth with another port. Separate backup from expansion: two internal drives improve capacity choices but do not protect against theft, accidental deletion or a failed host. A home server also needs a recovery plan, a suitable UPS and storage that can grow without an immediate full replacement.
Decide between these models
Choose the EVO-T2 if its 64 GB package, local AI graphics and built-in 10GbE RJ45 match your needs. Choose the MS-A2 if dual SFP+ 10GbE, multiple storage paths and PCIe expansion matter more than integrated graphics. If neither connection type is useful, compare a simpler 64 GB Ryzen or Core Mini PC before paying for specialized ports. The best value is the least expensive complete system that passes your hard CPU, RAM, storage and I/O requirements.
Verify delivery and test early
Keep the exact model, RAM, SSD, price and seller from the order. On arrival, check installed memory in firmware and the operating system, then run a memory test and a representative workload. Check both LAN ports or monitors you expect to use and measure noise and temperature during sustained work. Do this while returns are straightforward. A 64 GB label is the start of a decision, not proof that the delivered computer is suitable for every demanding job.
Size memory and storage for present and future use
For an everyday computer, sixteen gigabytes of installed memory is a practical starting point for many buyers; more may help development, virtual machines and heavy multitasking. Some Mini PCs use soldered memory while others accept replaceable modules. Confirm the number of slots, supported type and actual installed amount before paying for a higher-capacity variation. A maximum advertised capacity does not mean that memory is included.
Check both SSD capacity and expansion. A media server might store its library elsewhere, but its database, cache and operating system still need local room. Development and virtualisation produce images, snapshots and logs that grow. Identify the interface and occupied slots of the exact configuration. Plan a backup separately; a second internal drive is useful for capacity or recovery workflows but is not automatically a backup.
Choose a processor tier with room for the actual tasks
Intel N-series systems can be sensible for light office use, media clients and modest home services. More demanding multitasking, several virtual machines, heavier development or graphics work may need a different class. Core and Ryzen labels span many generations and power envelopes, so the family name alone is not a reliable ranking. Check the specific CPU, memory configuration and cooling in the system you can buy.
A quoted processor base power or maximum turbo frequency is a component specification. It is not the electricity consumption of the whole computer and does not prove sustained performance inside a tiny enclosure. Compare independent testing of the exact machine when performance or acoustics matter, and leave headroom for the applications you expect to add during its useful life.
Budget for the whole ownership period
The purchase price is only one part of cost. Add missing barebones parts, delivery, applicable sales taxes, warranty terms and any software or adapters the setup needs. An always-on system also uses electricity. Enter measured whole-system watts and your local tariff in the power cost calculator; do not use the processor TDP as the wall measurement. Compare the annual difference between two plausible systems instead of assuming a higher upfront price will always pay back.
A newer or more expensive system may be easier to expand or may provide features that solve a real problem. Equally, a modest machine can be the better value for a single known task. Check the date the price was checked on every offer. The checkout total may have changed, so confirm it before ordering.
Verify the order and test the delivered machine
Before checkout, reselect the exact RAM and SSD variant and confirm the seller, condition, operating system, return window and total. Keep a copy of the listing details and your order configuration. On arrival, confirm CPU, installed memory and storage in the system settings, then test the ports your workload actually depends on. Update firmware only through the manufacturer’s documented process.
Set up recovery before moving important data. Keep a separate backup of service configurations and files, and test restoration. Try representative media, virtual machines, monitors or network paths while the return period still applies. A good buying decision includes a way to discover a wrong configuration early and return or correct it without disrupting the rest of your setup.
