Why choose the GT instead of the DXP4800 Pro?
The DXP4800 GT is differentiated by dual 10GbE. The DXP4800 Pro combines one 10GbE port with one 2.5GbE port and uses a Core i3-1315U, so the two 4-bay models solve slightly different problems.
If your workload is dominated by network transfers between several fast clients, the GT's second 10GbE port can be useful. If applications, containers or CPU-heavy services matter more, compare processor requirements as well as networking.
How many drives should I install?
Four SATA bays give you more RAID choices than a two-bay NAS, but usable capacity depends on the RAID level and drive sizes you choose.
For performance-sensitive work, use NAS or enterprise drives appropriate for continuous operation and check UGREEN's compatibility information before buying a full set.
Will dual 10GbE make editing directly from the NAS practical?
It can remove the network bottleneck for many compressed and mezzanine video workflows, but the array still needs enough disk or SSD throughput. Four hard drives in a parity RAID may not sustain every high-bitrate workflow.
A fast client NIC, suitable switch or direct network path, proper cabling and the file protocol also matter.
What are the M.2 slots useful for?
The two M.2 slots can be used within the storage features supported by UGOS Pro, including SSD-oriented configurations. Their value depends on whether your workload needs caching, fast volumes or application storage.
Do not assume an NVMe cache automatically accelerates every sequential transfer. Match the SSD role to the workload you actually run.
Is this an AI NAS?
It can run local services and applications, but it is not the same class as UGREEN's iDX6011 AI NAS. The iDX line uses newer Core Ultra processors and much more memory for local AI features.
Choose the GT primarily for storage and networking, then treat local AI as a secondary workload unless your models are modest.
What should a UK buyer budget for beyond the enclosure?
Add the cost of drives, a suitable 10GbE client adapter if needed, a 10GbE switch or direct connection, backup storage and possibly a UPS.
The enclosure price is only part of the complete system cost, especially when you are populating four bays with large drives.
