Exos model numbers identify much more than capacity. This database keeps generation, interface, sector format, security class and recording technology attached to the exact model so Amazon variations cannot blend specifications.

Read the entire model number
Small suffix changes can indicate a different interface or security configuration. For example, X24 model endings distinguish SATA ISE, SATA SED and SAS ISE products.Generation is not encoded by capacity alone
A 16TB drive may be X16, X18 or X24. A 20TB drive may be X20, X22 or X24. A 24TB drive may be X24 or Exos M.SATA and SAS require different hosts
SATA is the practical choice for ordinary desktop controllers and most consumer NAS devices. SAS is appropriate only where the controller or backplane explicitly supports SAS.512e and 4Kn change host requirements
