An SSD supplied inside a laptop, workstation or prebuilt system can route warranty service through the system manufacturer. The model may be authentic but not supported as an independent retail purchase.

Samsung states that when valid proof of purchase is unavailable, the warranty period may be determined from the manufacture date. That does not guarantee approval when the seller route or product eligibility is unclear.

Samsung’s terms allow repair, replacement with new or refurbished product of equal or greater capacity/functionality, or a refund of current market value when repair or replacement is unavailable.

Estimate annual write rate

Divide recent host-write growth by the observation period and annualize it. Compare the projection with 1,200TBW and the remaining calendar warranty.

Do not use an annualized number as a precise failure forecast. Workloads and write amplification can change.

Prepare a complete claim package

Choose a replacement only after confirming the host interface, cooling and workload. A Gen5 drive may offer no benefit in a Gen4 system, while a cheaper Gen4 alternative may meet the same practical need.
