# Toshiba N300 8TB vs WD Red Plus 8TB: Performance, Noise and Value

Canonical: https://cloudzat.com/toshiba-n300-8tb-vs-wd-red-plus-8tb/

Choose Toshiba N300 8TB for speed: the current HDWG780EZSTA is rated at 281MB/s, 7,200 RPM and 512MB cache. Choose current WD80EFPX for a quieter and lower-power home NAS: it is rated at 215MB/s, 5,640 RPM, 24dBA idle and 3.4W idle. Avoid buying a generic Red Plus 8TB listing without the suffix because WD80EFZZ and older WD80EFBX have different specifications.
