Samsung’s official data sheet lists up to 1,050MB/s reads and 1,000MB/s writes for the T7 Shield. It also notes that performance depends on host configuration, cable and environment. A reduction from peak numbers is therefore expected. A collapse to a few megabytes per second while reads remain fast is a different class of behavior.

A Samsung Community thread describes multiple T7 Shield 4TB and 2TB units with firmware FXI72P2Q showing writes that fell from roughly 900MB/s to around 2MB/s, freezing and constant blue LED activity. Contributors proposed an interaction involving the bridge controller, firmware and newer host power-management commands.
That proposal should be labelled accurately: it is a user report and technical hypothesis on Samsung’s community platform, not a published Samsung engineering advisory confirming that all T7 Shields with that firmware are defective.
